Writer/director Tom Hardy
Back in 2010, Tom mentioned a very íntriguing sounding film he’d made called Myties Dynamo saying this:
He’s also just finished producing, co-directing and acting in a micro-budget film called Myties Dynamo which he describes bewilderingly as “a thriller about suburbia – one of those old-school, black-comic Hungarian films, a bit like Man Bites Dog”.
Naturally, I’ve been very curious about what that was about and whether it would ever be released. I still don’t know, but at least I’ve now found out something more. The other director of this film - which may instead be called Mighty’s Dynamo - is Charles Henri Belleville, director of the short The Inheritance in which Tom did a cameo:
Cut to 2011, and Belleville, who worked in the marketing department at UK distributor Vertigo Films, was ready with his second feature, Mighty’s Dynamo, a “dramedy” set over one night in London, written by and starring Hardy again, alongside his girlfriend Charlotte Riley.
Now I’m even MORE curious! I love Tom’s initial description the most, though, it’s so wonderfully absurd (as if we all know so much about those Hungarian films…). Will it ever be released? There’s just nothing more frustrating than unreleased stuff! And I wonder what it’s really called…
